For over 30 years, HUR has been at the forefront of developing safe, effective, and motivating exercise solutions tailored specifically for seniors and rehabilitation. The equipment supports older adults in maintaining or regaining the independence and quality of life they value.

At the heart of it all is smart, user-friendly technology designed to enhance safety, track progress, and personalise every workout.

RFID system

This system offers a seamless and personalised workout experience. With a simple tap of an RFID card or wristband, seniors can automatically adjust the machine to their pre-set preferences for safe, comfortable training.

The SmartTouch interface guides workouts, tracks progress, and stores data in the cloud for carers or therapists to monitor. It’s the ideal solution for seniors, ensuring independence and consistency in their exercise routine without the need for manual adjustments.

Smart balance

SmartBalance is a precision tool for assessing and training balance, combining force platform technology with interactive software to deliver clear, measurable outcomes.

The system features a newly updated user interface, improved adjustments, and new cognitive-motor exercises. Balance assessments and training can be completed in minutes, with colour-coded reports that focus on five core parameters linked to fall risk.

SmartBalance is also integrated with the HUR SmartTouch Falls Prevention concept, supporting an evidence-based approach to balance improvement and monitoring.

Computer control

The SmartTouch technology software is a proprietary software that automates the process of client management and equipment control. It covers the complete range of HUR products as well as several third-party suppliers. It is through this software that true, evidence-based training is possible.

SmartTouch allows for fully automated and independent exercising. This means that there is no need for the user to adjust the seat and lever arm positions*, nor the resistance or repetitions. Once a user ‘taps-on’ to a piece of equipment, everything is automatically prepared for him or her, including their individualised exercise programme.

Air resistance

The equipment utilises air cylinders connected to a near-silent air compressor for generating the resistance needed for strength training. These cylinders are safely hidden away in the frames of the equipment.

What are the benefits of this? Air cylinders give smooth and consistent resistance across the range of motion. This reduces stress on joints and tissues and entirely avoids the risk of accidents from overloading muscles. This is especially important for seniors.

With air resistance, starting loads can be near zero, and increments can be as low as 100g. This means even the frailest can start exercising and can make improvements without ‘trying to do too much.’

Safety features

The fitness equipment has been specially designed with older adults in mind, prioritising safety, comfort, and independence every step of the way.

Range limiters
These prevent hyperextension, helping protect joints and ensuring users of all mobility levels can exercise safely and comfortably.

Supportive seating
Integrated neck cushions gently guide users into proper posture, promoting correct form and targeting the right muscle groups, especially important for those with posture-related issues.

Isometric sensor points
These allow trainers to accurately assess an individual’s strength and range of motion before setting up a personalised exercise plan, ideal for tracking progress and preventing overexertion.

Easy entry and exit
Extra handgrips make getting on and off the equipment simple and secure, giving users added confidence.

Independent arm/leg levers
Recognising that strength often varies between limbs, our equipment enables each arm and leg to work independently.
This prevents overcompensation and ensures a balanced workout, which is crucial for general fitness and targeted rehabilitation.

No risk for pacemaker users
With no large electrical motors, our equipment is pacemaker-safe, removing a common barrier for many seniors.

Air resistance, not weights
The use of air cylinders instead of traditional weights significantly reduces the risk of injury.
It provides a smoother, safer resistance that’s gentler on joints and easier to control.
